Stieg Larsson wins Books Direct Crime Thriller of the Year Award

Kate Summerscale won Galaxy Book of the Year for The Suspicions of Mr Whicher (Bloomsbury), and the Play.com Popular Non-Fiction Award, and US President Barack Obama won the Tesco Biography of the Year at the 2009 Galaxy British Book Awards, which took place this evening (3rd April) at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. His Dreams from My Father (Canongate) beat off competition from big sellers Paul O’Grady, Dawn French and Julie Walters.

The late Steig Larsson won the Books Direct Crime Thriller of the Year accolade for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (MacLehose Press), which was collected on his behalf by his father.
