literature Iceland reports that Blessed are the Children (Ég man þig in Icel.), Yrsa Sigurðardóttir‘s bestselling novel from last year, will be filmed soon.
“Producer Sigurjón Sighvatsson has signed a deal with Yrsa and her publisher, Veröld. The novel, which is a mixture of a crime story and a ghost story, is described by Sigurjón as being an „exciting material for a film that is at once Icelandic and international.“
Ég man þig (Blessed are the Children) was published in Icelandic in 2010 and has been a great success. This is a crime fiction from Yrsa Sigurdardottir without her usual heroine Thora (Þóra) Gudmundsdottir. It has not, so far, been translated into English.
