However, Branagh's Wallander is not Mankell's. Quite a bit of the story is romanticised (relationship with his daughter) and homongenised (the police colleagues and police station). I don't watch much TV but from all accounts this is superior to most of it. The art direction is fantastic, that's for sure. And Branagh turns in an excellent performance.
