Peter, just wait till you read the sequel, Gangsters, written 25 years later (and coming out in English next year)! It turns the whole story on its head in several dimensions. Finally got to meet Klas with Tiina at the book fair in Copenhagen a couple of weeks ago, and he's a fascinating guy. I hope publishers will take the hint and buy rights to more of his books. Also available is The Hurricane Party from Canongate, in their Myths series. As Johnny Carson would say, "Weird, wild stuff."

[...] Peter reviews Gentlemen by Klas Östergren, originally published in Swedish in 1980 and in a translation by Tiina Nunnally in 2007. Peter reports he finds it well worth reading, though he’s doubul tfthat it deserves quite the reputation for greatness it has earned at home. [...]
